What are refrigerated sea containers used for?

A refrigerated container is suitable for storage and transportation of perishable products and other goods that require special temperature and humidity. An average refrigerated container maintains a temperature of -25°C to +25°C. To prevent damage and ensure safe storage and transportation of products, refrigerators should be checked regularly.

Here are some points to note before transporting goods in a refrigerated container:

1. Suitability for use. The inside of the refrigerated container should be clean, free of unpleasant odour, intact and free of any damage.

2. Temperature. Each product group has a recommended storage temperature and humidity level. It is important to control temperature and humidity, and set the appropriate parameters. For example, bananas should be stored at +10°C, while fish should be kept frozen at -25°C. In order to ensure the correct temperature, it is necessary to have several devices for measuring the temperature in the container, such as an air temperature sensor, a special telematics device or a wireless temperature and humidity measuring system. Also, one must make sure that the compressor and the thermostatic valve are functioning properly. They maintain the set temperature. In the event of a malfunction of the devices, the goods may perish.

3. Ventilation. Before each transport, make sure that the refrigerator is properly ventilated. The cooling and ventilation of the airflow in the container is effected by the arrangement of boxes and pallets, so it is important to arrange the goods correctly without leaving air gaps. Air vents are necessary for air circulation. Ventilation allows the products to “breathe” and maintain a longer shelf life. However, frozen products need no ventilation! In fact, containers with air vents are now being replaced by containers with an integrated cooling system. In this case, one should check if the cooling system is functioning properly.

Before selling refrigerated containers, we conduct an inspection to ensure that the cooling unit and the devices for temperature control and recording are working properly. We also make sure that the refrigerators have no structural damages and that their interior is clean and tidy. We issue BTIs.
